The History Behind iSplice Films

ince 2006, iSplice Films has been expertly handling both film and television post production.

iSplice Films Inc was founded in response to the need for a high quality post production company.  Its humble beginnings started as a small boutique post house catering to  many long-time clients.   Later in 2011 iSplice Films acquired a larger studio and partnered with long time colleague Tony Wytinck of White Ink Digital Post.  They are currently located at 309 Wardlaw Avenue in Winnipeg’s Osborne Village neighbourhood.  Working together we deliver world-class post production services, internationally.

Working with startups, all the way to industry leading professionals, iSplice Films delivers the the highest quality post production services available, ensuring total client satisfaction.

Bruce Little
With over 30 years in the Film and Television industry, multi award winning editor and post production specialist Bruce Little is currently living and working in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he operates iSplice Films, a full service Post Production facility.

In 1987, at the age of 15, Bruce began his Film and TV career at the Manitoba Television Network (MTN) in his home town of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. MTN’s fresh new signal covered most of the province from it’s head facility in Portage and their sister stations in Dauphin, Brandon and Winnipeg. At MTN Bruce quickly learned the workings of the entire facility and by the age of 17 was directing their top live programs, and working in their cutting edge A/B roll edit suites.

A few years later, Bruce relocated to Vancouver where he expanded his skill set, freelancing on various film and television projects. His experience led him into consulting as well as setting up a post facility on one of Vancouver’s Gulf Islands.

Years later, Bruce re-joined Manitoba’s film and television community, continuing to broaden his career and commitment to excellence and innovation in the Post Production field.
In Winnipeg, Bruce helped shape Mid Canada Productions into a thriving Post facility and ushered many film and television projects through their doors.

From his positions as picture editor, online editor, sound editor, sound engineer, re-recording engineer, and post production supervisor, there was no project that he didn’t enjoy putting his creative and technical touch on.
In 2006, Bruce joined forces with Winnipeg editor/researcher Julie Hackett and decided to open the doors of iSplice Films.

Julie Hackett
For the last 23 years, Julie Hackett has worked as a freelancer in the Winnipeg Film and Television industry as a Documentary editor, and archival researcher.

Julie started her career as a feature film assistant editor with a passion for visual research and clearances lending her talents to local companies Merit Motion Pictures, Les Productions Rivard as well as DunnMedia & Entertainment. Julie had the opportunity to expand her technical training to include 5 years as a freelance assistant editor at MidCanada Productions. here she was fortunate to work on nearly everything that came through the door.

As partner in Winnipeg based iSplice Films, Julie has expanded her skills to include Descriptive video (DV) services and Combined Continuity and Spotting Lists (CCSL) for feature film projects.

With a willingness to help young indigenous people tell their stories, Julie clocks time each year as a guest speaker with The National Screen Institute’s (NSI) New Indigenous Voices program for students from across Canada and has edited more than 100 of their student shorts to date many of which have found acclaim at international festivals.

Julie is the Winnipeg Jury Committee member for Yorkton Short Film Festival (YFF) since 2008, and volunteers time and service to the newly minted Afro Prairie Film Festival (2017-2019).

Luke Whitmore
From a young age, Luke had a passion for filmmaking that eventually lead him to enrol in the Creative Communications program at Red River College (RRC). The program’s demanding and practical curriculum expanded Luke’s proficiency in marketing, journalism, design, radio, and video production.

Since graduating with a major in media production and receiving the Broadcasters Association of Television Production Award from RRC, Luke has worked in a variety of roles in media: from leading organizations marketing efforts as an in-house videographer and marketer, freelancing as a videographer and editor for corporate productions and union/non-union television productions, to producing his own award-winning film projects.

Luke’s passion for filmmaking as both a hobby and career make working in this demanding industry an exciting and extremely rewarding experience. With a keen interest in post-production, Luke continues to develop his skills at iSplice Films, supporting clients with the many post-production services we provide.
